They say that he was once a dreadlock-wearing snowboarder and tree-planter. They say he once turned down a chance to be a professional windsurfer and traded it for the glory of being a professional biologist so he could sit in a cubicle and write funding agreements for obscure endangered species. We don’t know if any of that is true (it is), but we do know that he is a natural athlete and a rider of effortless strength and ability. His also our shallow well of technical knowledge when we have a mechanical failure. His rebellious and counter-culture nature still shines through – he refuses to accept societal norms of punctuality…
Bear Wrangler, Mixologist
Andrea is a carnivore biologist from southwest Alberta. A long time friend of Linnea’s, she and Jesse became family to Todd and Linnea while sharing a house for a semester. Andrea promises to use her carnivore know-how to protect us (and our pic’inick baskets) from marauding bears on our rides. She also happens to be a damn fine bartender, and we hope those skills get put to greater use than her wildlife skills do!!
Beer Guy, Reluctant Roadie
David is our beer and mountain bike guru. He used to sling coffee and pizza. Now he’s our guy at Sherbrooke Liquor. We think it’s a step up… He loves downhill and hates road bikes so we can’t wait to have Heather hold him down while we shave his legs and force him into pink lycra. Bottom line: good sport.
Team Border Collie
Have you ever seen a border collie go after something it DESPERATELY wanted? That’s how Tom goes about his life – relentlessly going after whatever he’s going after. Whether he’s chasing a frisbee, squash ball, wildlife or just trying to destroy you at a board game, he doesn’t know the meaning of the word quit. We are predicting some KOMs in his future…
Carly Szanik Coumantarakis
Trash Talker, Health Care Liase
When shit goes down in the Peleton… we’re glad to have Carly on our squad. We are also grateful that they don’t print names on bike jerseys! In addition to being our trash talker, Carly is an accomplished long-distance cyclist and a health care worker. She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s going to hook us up with transfusions before the big climb.
Water’s for fishin’. Dickel’s for drinkin’.
Rotating or sliding piece in a mechanical linkage
Cam is connected to Linnea, and to the Legion, on multiple fronts. He’s also a helluva guy and we are stoked to have him on our team. With three kids and a busy career we know we are lucky that he has donated his time and energy to this ride. Maybe it’s all the beer we feed him? Don’t tell his wife.
